CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST
My Education:
Dr. Morgan completed her undergraduate studies at the University of British Columbia (UBC) earning a BA in Psychology. She also spent a year studying at UCLA, training with Dr. Ivar Lovaas’s autism program. She then went on to complete a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the University of New Brunswick winning a prestigious federal NSERC research fellowship to fund her autism intervention PhD work. Following the completion of her Ph.D., Dr Morgan did a residency at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehab Hospital in Toronto, followed by a supervised practice licensing placement at North York General Hospital.
My Experience:
Following the completion of her PhD and Clinical residency, Dr. Morgan began working both in private practice and as a tenure-track professor. In private practice she worked with children, youth and adults to provide assessment, diagnosis and therapy for a wide range of issues from Autism and ADHD to Learning Disabilities and Anxiety. She is particularly passionate about her work involving later-in-life ASD/ADHD diagnosis and is known for her expertise with neurodivergence in women. At Tyndale University, her research focused on Autism and included running social skills summer camps and completing projects related to parenting stress and ASD.
My Why:
I decided to specialize in mental health when I realized that psychologists are the doctors that have the opportunity to get to know their patients at a deeper level. I enjoy being let into an individuals’ world and from that understanding, help them learn to thrive given their unique profile of strengths and challenges.
Check out the Q&A below to get to know me a little better:
My sons and I have 2 pet rats, a guinea pig, and a very small dog who thinks she is the boss of us all.
I’ve surprised myself by becoming passionately devoted to hot yoga this past year. I also love anything outdoors such as camping, hiking, or rock climbing.
I am a bookworm and often re-read favourite series as a way to reconnect with old ‘friends’ in a predictable and fun fictional world.
Although firmly into my adult years, I really enjoy YA series such as Madeline L’Engle’s, A Wrinkle in Time.
My kids and I house-swap each summer with families overseas and have spent summers in Europe, UK, and Australia. We are all museum nerds and enjoy geeking-out on almost any topic.
